Greetings! I am Dr. Jamila Salisberry and I have been fortunate to serve in a number of capacities here at SMCHS. For two years, I taught English and math while co-moderating the Black Cultural Society on campus. In the 2016-2017 school year, I worked with students to form the Bible Readersí Club while serving as assistant coach for our schoolís outstanding cross country team. Presently, I am the dean of students alongside veteran dean Kris Anderson and I teach Honors English 10 and College Prep English 10 both British Literature courses.
When I am not with the wonderful students of St. Monicaís, I can be found leading the worship team at my church in Granada Hills, CA and working as a member of the board of directors. I have fun getting together with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to write and sing the songs we produce. I also enjoy helping my friends make Christian films, watching movies of nearly all genres, reading, listening to music, trying foods from different cultures and spending time with family. It makes me happy to spread love and joy to others every day and I am grateful to be surrounded by so many loving, joyful Mariners at SMCHS who are glad to do the same.
