Houston Wilson » Bio

My name is Houston Wilson and I grew up in the Coachella Valley where I attended a Jesuit high school. Inspired by this Ignatian education to "go forth and set the world on fire", I studied political science and film at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA hoping to change the world. After graduating from Pepperdine, I spent two years in the University of Notre Dame's ACE Teaching Fellows program where I taught full-time in Oklahoma City while pursuing a Master's degree in education. In this two year program, I found a passion for teaching and a desire to continue serving within Catholic schools. As a native Californian, I knew that I wanted to move back to the Los Angeles area after my time in Oklahoma. So, I found my way to St. Monica!
Outside of teaching, I have several hobbies and passions. I picked up road cycling during the spring quarantine of 2020 and it has become a huge part of my life. I spend anywhere from 12-20 hours a week riding my bike to and from school as well as exploring the Santa Monica Mountains. In addition to commuting and riding for fun, I also race my bike competitively at events throughout Southern California. If I'm not at school, I will probably be on my bike. Aside from road cycling, I also love watching movies, listening to music, going to concerts, and trying out new recipes.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, or want to talk about something I've mentioned here further!
