Robotics Camp

SMCHS is excited to be offering a 1-Week Robotics boot camp ran by Mr. Nathaniel Albers and members of the Mariner Robotics team! Students will enter into a weeklong build challenge utilizing the VEX EDR Robotics sets provided at the camp where they will learn the mechanisms involved in building a remote controlled robot. Students will also learn how to code using a special version of C language, Robot C, provided by VEX.

DAILY ITINERARY

  • Day 1:
An introduction to mechanisms and coding where students become familiar with the  parts and coding language of a robot.

  • Days 2-4:
Students work in teams to collaboratively design and build a robot.

  • Day 5:
    Team robot competition.

In addition to learning about robotics, students will be working through the engineering process of building robot within a team. Teams will be responsible for documenting all work heading into the competition day where they will see all their hard work from the week pay off. The competition will be objective based and will be described and shown to students on Day 1; the end of competition day will consist of our own version of “battlebots”! This camp is a great opportunity to get exposure to robotics and gain experience on how it feels to be part of a competition team; VEX Robotics offers competitions from middle school to college levels so there is plenty of opportunity to show off what you learned at camp!

Campers should bring a lunch box meal and water bottle.

Be ready to learn, work hard, and have fun!
