Daniela Girbal is one of the College Counselors at St. Monica Catholic High School. In her role as College Counselor, Daniela provides academic and college counseling to the junior and senior students at SMCHS. Daniela herself is an alumna of SMCHS, class of 2009 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UCLA and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. Within education Daniela is a big believer in helping foster the growth and personal development of each student at SMCHS.
As an educator, Daniela’s goal is to provide SMCHS students with the tools they need to become well-rounded young adults and feel prepared academically, emotionally and spiritually as they leave St. Monica and go out into the world.
As an educator here at SMCHS, Daniela strives to ensure that students feel supported by helping them find their passions and connecting them to opportunities within the St. Monica community. SMCHS has become a second home for Daniela. First hand, Daniela has been able to experience what being part of the Mariner family means not only as a teacher but also as a student.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA, Daniela knew she wanted to return to SMCHS and give back to her Alma Mater. As mentioned above, she was first the Director of Admissions and loved getting to work with potential students and their families. However, she wanted to play a bigger role in students’ success here at SMCHS and work with them past the admissions stage. As a counselor, Daniela’s mission is to provide students with the same guidance and support she received from her former teachers. They helped unlock her potential and envision a future for herself. SMCHS has been a part of Daniela’s life for over 10 years and she wants her students to view this school as a home they can always return to!
