Homecoming 2016

Our ASB and Class Councils are hard at work leading the charge in carrying out the theme and spirit of this week through activities like deck the halls, dress up days, lunchtime activities, and an exciting Pep Rally on Friday!  Our Homecoming game Saturday evening will include the crowning of our Homecoming King and Queen at halftime.  The week ends on Sunday with the Homecoming Dance in our transformed Mortensen Athletic Center!

In honor of the impact of music on our school community, this year’s theme has been “Mariner Mixtape”, with each month celebrating a particular genre of music.  October’s theme of “Poptober” inspired the Homecoming Dance’s theme of “A Night at the Grammys” and the related lunchtime activities and dress up days this week:

Mass Monday: SMCHS Mass attire as we celebrate our Mariner family at the Homecoming Mass at 9:15 AM and are led in song by our choir

Rock ’N Roll Tuesday: taking us back to 50’s style!

Wednesday: school wide testing/senior college workshop; no activities

Music Duo Thursday (Twin Day): get a group of friends to dress alike!

Green Out Friday: Pep Rally!  Wear St. Monica-issued Mariner gear!

Hall of Fame Dinner:  The SMCHS community will honor five individuals at the Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction on Friday, October 21, 2016. Steven M. Hilton '68, Irma Rodriguez Vargas '72 and Ed Archer, Faculty 1982 - 2013 will be inducted into the Distinguished Mariner Hall of Fame. Bob Klein '65 and Doug O'Neill '86 will be inducted into the Mariner Athletic Hall of Fame. To purchase tickets, visit stmonicachs.org/halloffame.

Homecoming Game vs. Mary Star @ SMC on Saturday 10/22:  The JV game starts @ 4 PM.  The varsity game starts at 7 PM and will include halftime festivities featuring our cheer team and the crowning of the Homecoming king and queen!

Tickets for Homecoming 2016: A Night at the Grammys are on sale this week on the yard at lunch for $50 each.  The price includes dinner, photo booth, and desserts.  The dance is on Sunday, 10/23 from 7-11 PM.  It is open to all SMCHS students in good disciplinary standing and preapproved guests. The event is semi-formal.

Happy Homecoming Week!
