St. Monica Catholic High School Student-Athletes to Host “Family Week” in Support of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

St. Monica Catholic High School Athletics will host a week-long celebration of its community families and seek to raise funds for “Change 4 Children’s” as part of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  The Jars of Change raise funds for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The week of festivities will run September 9-13, 2019.

Families of elementary and high school students are invited to attend two athletic contests during the week. The first will be at our girls volleyball contest verses Malibu High School on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the St. Monica Gym, and the second will be Friday at 7:00 p.m., where our undefeated football team will take on Little Rock High School at Santa Monica College. Both high school contests will feature exhibition games featuring elementary school teams. Fans will also enjoy concessions and face painting.

During the week, Mariner athletes will also help fill jars with change collected from fans, students and the entire St. Monica Catholic Schools community. Even a few cents or dollars can really add up! Look for the jars at Tuesday’s volleyball match and Friday’s football game.

Once collected, the Mariners will present the funds to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. 100% of the donations will go to the nonprofit. Past Jars of Change have funded the purchase of video game carts, books, and special holiday meals for hospitalized patients.
