After nearly 25 years of service and leadership to St. Monica Catholic Schools, Thom Gasper will be leaving his position as president to join the leadership team of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Pastor, Msgr. Lloyd Torgerson shared, "Thom Gasper is an extraordinary leader and we have been blessed to have him as SMCES and SMCHS’ first president, as well as principal, campus minister, and teacher at the high school for 25 years. We offer him our prayer and love and gratitude as he continues his leadership.”
Kevin Baxter, Superintendent of Schools said, “Thom has left a lasting legacy at St. Monica and we are excited to have him bring his talent, energy and enthusiasm to the Department of Catholic Schools."
Longtime boardmember and past parent, Dr. Kevin McCardle will serve as interim president for the 2018-19 school year. Thom Gasper is excited at the strength that this decision by Msgr. Torgerson brings to the schools saying, “I cannot imagine a better person to take the helm of our parish schools. Kevin has been a great mentor to me and I am confident our school leaders will benefit greatly from his vast wisdom, even temperament, and thoughtful direction.”
